Do you accept direct billing?
Yes, we do accept direct billing, as long as we have a credit card on file that may be used to cover any outstanding amounts that your insurance company may not cover.
How old should a child be before they come to the dentist for their first visit?
We usually like to start to see children between 6 and 12 months of age to allow the child to get comfortable and familiar with their teeth being looked at, as well as potential problems can be spotted early and corrected.
What's the difference between a silver filling and a white filling?
An amalgam (silver) filling is a mixture of metal alloys used to provide a strong, durable and hard filling that has been used to fill cavities for over 100 years. A composite (white) filling is a tooth colored synthetic resin (glass & plastic mixture) used to restore decayed teeth. They are ideal for cosmetic improvements such as changing the color or shape off teeth.
Does your office do dentures?
We do not do dentures at our office.
What is the difference between crowns and veneers?
A crown is a custom made, tooth shaped hat or “cap” that is placed over the tooth in order to improve the structural integrity of the tooth or for cosmetic modifications and is cemented in place. This procedure usually takes two visits and can be tooth-coloured or gold. A veneer is a wafer-thin like shell that is custom-made and cemented to the front surface of teeth to improve the appearance through colour or shape. These are ideal if a patient is looking to change the landscape of their smile.
Do you do sedation in your office?
We do what is called “conscious sedation” through the use of nitrous oxide, also known as laughing gas. It is a non- allergenic, non-irritating gas that affects the central nervous system that completely leaves the system within three to five minutes once the procedure is complete. It helps anxious patients to feel more comfortable during their appointment, and they remain conscious and fully aware during treatment. It is administered through a soft rubber nose piece that you simply breathe through normally.
My insurance says it covers 100% of my dental work. Why do I still have a balance to pay?
Many insurance companies pay based on a set fee that may or may not be in line with today's fees. We encourage patients to know what their dental insurance policies cover and don't cover, if there are deductibles, if the policy is active, etc. Due to the privacy act, many insurance companies will not give us this information and it is therefore best that patients be in-the-know about their insurance.
What brands do you use in your office?
We use a variety of leading dental products at our Spruce Grove clinic, including:
